This week we have been very busing weighing, mixing, kneading, rolling, cutting and baking gingerbread. The smell of gingerbread wafted around the school as the children waited for their gingerbread men to bake. They were worried that the biscuits would jump out of the oven and run away!
The children were very excited and there wasn't a crumb of gingerbread left at the end of the day. The general consensus was that they were delicious!
For literacy this week the children followed up their baking by writing a simple set of instructions about how to make a gingerbread man.
We have also been learning our number bonds to 5 and how 5 can be made by adding two or more numbers together. This will be followed up next week as we look at numbers to 10 and doing simple addition using dominoes. We will also start to use a ten frame.
Our story topic next week is The Elves and the Shoemaker  and we will be writing letters to the elves.
