As part of their Bright Lights Big City Topic, Year 1 have learnt about the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and the significance of royal portraits. They have combined many of their art skills to create their own royal self portrait.
They began by using paint to colour mix and create their skin colour before adding details using oil pastels. They then learnt about warm and cool colours and chose which they would like to use for the background. The children completed their fabulous pieces with collage; adding a shiny crown.
We think they are amazing! Well done Year 1.
