Dinosaur Planet

The children were very excited this week to discover an egg and footprints in our garden area. They spent time looking at the egg and predicting what might be inside! Lots of children guessed a dinosaur! The children have enjoyed learning about Mary Anning and her important discoveries of fossils. They explored how fossils are formed and created their very own fossils using salt dough. In the construction area, they have enjoyed using lego to build imaginative dinosaur habitats and prehistoric scenes, while the small world area encouraged storytelling and role play with dinosaur figures. The children shared a love of dinosaur books, developing their knowledge and vocabulary. They also used sketching and watercolour techniques to create detailed dinosaur artwork. Through hands-on investigation, they have also been searching for and uncovering hidden fossils in the sand. A brilliant start to our new topic! Well done!

Enchanted Woodland

Year 1 have really enjoyed learning about woodland animals and different types of plants. We have been thinking about how plants grow and labelling the different parts. We are currently growing sunflowers and the children are making sure they are watered. As part of our topic we had an exciting trip to the woods to spot different animals and types of plants. The children enjoyed looking at the different leaves, trees and blossom growing as well as spotting different birds and insects. We made some fantastic woodland braclets and crowns.
