Puffins Trip to Marston Vale Forest Centre
Puffins had a lovely (although quite damp) time at Marston Vale Forest Centre. We started the day by keeping dry and doing some bird spotting, before heading over to the pond to do some pond dipping. We all got quite wet but that didn't put us off - we found baby newts, tadpoles, dragonfly larvae and even some baby shrimp! After that we dried off whilst having some lunch and had a quick run around when the sun briefly came out. During the afternoon we took part in a leaf hunt - and found a plant that had collected rainwater in little pools. Finally, before we headed home we played some games with the rangers that used our teamwork and communication skills. It was a wonderful day filled with lots of questions and smiles.
Pufferfish Trip to Marston Vale Forest Centre
Pufferfish had a wonderful day out at Marston Forest Centre! We did pond dipping, leaf and bug hunting and bird watching and saw lots of interesting minibeasts. Luckily the thundery weather stayed away!
Seashells Trip to Marston Vale Forest Centre
Seashell's had a fab day at Marston Vale Forest Centre. Although it was a rather damp day it did not dampen Seashell's spirits. We had a great time pond dipping where we found a variety of creatures such as a water spider with an egg sack, a dragonfly nymph, tadpoles and even a rare great crested newt. Following pond dipping, Seashell's used binoculars to scan for birds in the bird hide. We even learnt about Sand Martins and how Marston have created their very own Sand Martins nesting wall. After lunch, Seashells played a forest game where they had to 'get to know a tree' whilst blindfolded, as well as a leaf hunt, observing the features of certain leaves in order to know the name of that particular tree. Seashells were impeccably behaved and were keen to learn throughout the day. Well done Seashells!
So far this term Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed their Muck, Mess and Mixtures topic surrounding our key text George's Marvellous Medicine. Within our theme lessons we have completed some art lessons on sketching facial expressions to portray feelings. In Science we have completed lots of learning on materials & their properties, observing how materials can change shape, absorb and evaporate. Finally within our English lessons our amazing children have been writing brilliant character descriptions on Grandma. Please take a look at all of the fab work below.
